Multiscope Prostate Cancer Detection
Feasibility of highly accurate differentiation between malignant and benign tissue in prostatic specimen has been demonstrated by using combined Laser-Induced Fluorescence and Electrical Impedance measurements.

95 prostate samples of 32 patients undergoing radical retropubic prostatectomy were taken immediately after removal of the prostate. 92,6% of original grouped cases were correctly classified. The sensitivity of 93,8% and the specificity 92,4% has been reached for the method.
The work toward in vivo multiscope diagnostics is in progress. If successful it might open the way to detect positive surgical margins in real-time intraoperatively in the future.
