Development of Instrumentation and Applied Methods of Optical Diagnostics

The International Scientific Laboratory for Laser-Optical Diagnostics (ISL LOD) is a joint center of excellence in research and application of optical and laser technology supported by the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC), Moscow, the Institute of Nondestructive Testing(IZFP) of the Fraunhofer Society of Germany, Saarbrucken/Dresden, and the StepanovInstitute of Physics (IP NASB) of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Minsk. The ISL LOD is an example of a new form of scientific-technical cooperation on a mutually benefitial ground.

The scientific and technical program of the ISL LOD is directed towards the development of optical (in particular laser-based and laser-assisted) methods, sensors, devices and systems for

• nondestructive testing and quality assurance of products,
• in-situ monitoring of industrial fabrication technology,
• noninvasive medical diagnostics for broader recautionary public health care and more efficient clinical therapy.

The ISL LOD unites the excellent knowledge of the Stepanov IP NASB in basics of laser technology and optical metrology and the long-term know-how of the Fraunhofer IZFP in development and application of systems for nondestructive testing (NDT) to the strategic core competence of optical, especially laser-based NDT including quality management and certification.
